Borage

I went for a walk in the morning before catching a flight back to France. There was a lot of borage in the fields. As well as being an edible plant and having medicinal qualities, borage helps break up and aerate the soil. A cover crop of borage could help to improve the soil quality before other crops are grown and by self-seeding prolifically, borage can help to cover areas of bare soil and fill in patches in growing areas.

Charlotte gave us a lift to the airport. All was going smoothly until we were on the tarmac and kept waiting for 40 minutes before being sent inside again. Apparently the plane’s emergency lights were not working. An engineer was called no doubt to replace the bulbs! In all we were delayed two and a half hours. If we had been delayed another half an hour, we would have received €500 compensation! It is good to be back home after a tiring day.
