Balloon Launched Glider

No Alaska scenery today. My daughter Kelly and some or her classmates will be participating in the National Science Olympiad competition next week in Wichita, Kansas. They already won the state competition and now get a chance to see how they measure up with the rest of the country. Tonight was their last opportunity to practice for the Balloon Launched Glider event. The objective is to maximize the flight time of a glider released indoors (gymnasium size room) from a helium balloon. The plane only weighs 2 grams. Kelly is in four other events, but this one is the most fun and nerve racking to watch. Unfortunately, I won't be there to see it, but Kelly's mom is going to be there with her. Since I won't be there to blip the event, this picture at practice will have to do. Proud blipping papa will most certainly blip her medal when she wins. Regardless of the result, the kids will have fun. It's nice to celebrate academic competition and achievement rather than just sports.

Good luck, have fun, and take no prisoners!!!!
