Hayling Island Billy Trail

Had a leisurely get up and then sorted things out for our little trip away for the bank holiday.

The motorway was very busy and pulsing badly so we decided to let the sat nav take us there without the benefit of motorways. The hotel was easy to find and well positioned on the edge of the island just after the bridge.

After checking in and enjoying a sandwich in the bar, we set off to walk the Billy Trail, an old railway track. Lots of birds along the marshy flats - egrets, terns, herons and a calling curlew. Had a welcome stop for a drink and then walked back to the hotel. It was busy with two weddings. We had olives and bread in the bar (too full after our big sandwich lunch) and then headed off to bed. Worked out afterwards we'd probably walked 8 miles or so.
