Parallel Lives

The quietest moment of the day. Before breakfast. Oven fired up. Bread baked. The rain (that lasted all day) has not quite yet started and the sky has not yet darkened. Thereafter, a whirlwind of cleaning and tidying and cooking and preparing. Then entertaining and exchanging news and pictures and dreams and hopes and companionship

I suppose we have many things in common, but the one we always quote is that their first child and our first child were born on the same day in the same hospital - we got there first and claimed the best bed. Somehow that creates a resonance that endures through the decades

Tomorrow (which has just become today) we will share the bread before they leave us for the next leg of their long journey - collecting more stories for the next time we meet
