Port Sunlight

We went to Port Sunlight today, only we didn’t see much sunlight! We gave the museum it self a miss but did the self guided walk. We were not quite at No.1 on the circular route when there was a very loud clap of thunder and biblical rain fell on us. ( I think it was a sign from Reggie whose birthday it would have been today -St Swithens day). So we dived into the art gallery coffee shop and dried off. The walk around was very interesting and we only got caught in one more downpour and managed to find some shelter from it. This is part of the war memorial which is outstanding. I particularly liked the fact that is showed the women and children, as I often feel they were equally as heroic managing to pick up the pieces and carry on without their wage earner. Sounds brutal and un caring but it was the harsh truth. Anyhow it was a magnificent memorial, but equally as poignant was a very simple one marking the Hillsborough disaster.

Afterward we went to Conwy, but as we got there the rain started again in such intensity that we were thinking of Noah and his animals, so having decided it looked lovely and was worth a return visit in better weather we headed to Rhyll. All I can say is - an amalgamation of all the worst bits of Skegness, Great Yarmouth, Southerness point and Blackpool! We got damp there but dodged any dreadful downpours.

My arm is responding well to the antibiotics, and thankfully I’ve been able to wear a raincoat with my arm in the sleeve.

Despite the weather we’ve had a lovely day visiting all places we’ve never been to before.
