Life cameo

A little snapshot of what's in front of me: Berry's demolished ball (yet another that she found on a walk!); the first sweet peas, rescued from the polycrub jungle; and a glass of red with a sparkling water to rehydrate the naughty stuff!

It sums up today really. Berry has been a bit naughty the last few walks and exhibiting recall deafness so she had had a quieter day today with ball throwing and recall and brain games to make her think. It's taken this very intelligent dog to teach me that long walks are not necessarily the answer; she's had an exciting few weeks, new smells and scenery nearly every day, and then she's back home feeling a little over the top and ready to push the boundaries in familiar surroundings. In the past I would have tried the long walk solution. These days it's more like the small toddler and too much sugar solution ie some quiet days of downtime at home, some time alone so she can't keep pestering me (I got out of the way for a couple of hours so some enforced chilling) and we'll do the same tomorrow. Hopfully that'll mean she's ready for a wander elsewhere.

I spent a bit of time in the polycrub removing bolted salad veg, bagging up what could be retrieved as 'gifts' for a couple of friends and just enjoying the peace and quiet. Chris arrived back earlier than expected from his golf comp as a flash flood had rendered the course unplayable so he received the foodshop list for when he could get back to town later. Lucky him!  Bless him, he played and then shopped and deserves a big gold star. He's shattered now!

Berry had her downtime whilst I caught up with a couple of friends (who seemed grateful for non- supermarket salad!), admiring the balmy view and fantasising about the holidays they've recently been on. This evening I've been looking on websites with a glass of red on the side ...
