Life in Newburgh on Ythan

The lotus eaters

The Lotus corniculatus, commonly known as birdsfoot trefoil or the egg and bacon plant, is in full flower on the sand dunes. The bright yellow patches are attracting the unwanted attention of the local caterpillars including those of the Garden Tiger and the 6 Spot Burnet moths. It is a positive massacre, best seen through the naturalist's lens. The tiger is the big hairy fellow.
