Highland Games (18/7)

Today we went to the Highland Games at Inveraray. They had a 300m undulating grass track around which they held running and cycling events, and the usual scottish field events in the middle. They also had a huge bag pipe competition with the contestants moving from around the various judging tents all day making an enormous racket. Hugh took part in the wrestling, winning his weight division, and coming second in the class above. The wrestlers from the local club tended to dominate so Hugh did very well to get the results he did. Afterwards we drove north to our lovely accommodation at Tulloch Castle in Dingwall. The drive into Glencoe was the highlight with amazing mountains. We also had a brief stop at Loch Ness to show the children the canals that join it.
