Between fen and mountains

By Tickytocky

Some corner of a foreign land...

.... that is for ever England. This is St Georges Anglican church in the village, one of the few in France, built by the kind donation of Rudyard Kipling, Princess Beatrice and a few other worthies during the period of the Belle Epoque. The Fondation Patrimoine is helping with its restoration and the building should be usable again at the beginning of next year. I have never been able to photograph it close up because of narrow streets, hanging cables and other inconveniences that make it impossible to frame in its entirety. I found this vantage point today that does it justice.

We had friends for lunch. He occasionally takes services in the village church. He and his wife have been retired for many years. I was a little taken aback when they arrived, both in full sets of leathers, on a large motorbike. That just reminds me never to have preconceptions about people based on age or job.
