Wee ride out

Didn’t feel very rested when I woke this morning, and later chatted to K about my sleep pattern and what my normal pattern is. Must keep more of a record and review it. She and I had planned a day out and we went to Compton Verney in Warwickshire. Beautiful old house in grounds full of wildflowers, mature trees and a lovely lake, that’s been restored and refurbished into a very good art gallery. We started off walking along the lake and into the woods where there was a sound installation which was quite inventive and interesting, then to the house for an early lunch before starting on the galleries. There was a floor of English folk art and mid century design inspired by it, another had special exhibitions of Gerald Scarfe illustrations and the Audubon Birds of America that had started at the National Museum of Scotland and the last had a very multi sensory exhibition on Naples, Chinese bronze art and European religious art and portraiture. Some really lovely pieces, very nicely displayed (we loved the building block area with its own erupting volcano to smash down the buildings and the smell jars near various paintings) and lots of space and facilities for children to explore and make their own art. Talked non stop about what we were seeing, politics, trees, bishops, family, radio plays, gardens, birthday presents and holidays.
It rained a bit whilst we were indoors and stayed cloudy most of the time but it didn’t matter as we had lots to do and really enjoyed our day out.
Back to hr house and had cauliflower cheese with some toast for a snacky supper then did some scrolling and investigated optical illusions.
Back to T&Kt’s…he was at work and Kt was in bed after they arrived home in the early hours of this morning.
