Sgwarnog: In the Field

Soldier

Red Soldier Beetles are ubiquitous in the meadows at this time of year, often living up to their informal name of the ‘bonking beetles’.

Later, I took in another pre-season friendly at Thackley, with near neighbours Guiseley being the visitors. Even in a friendly situation the difference in class was very apparent, and Guiseley took a three goal lead inside the first 15 minutes. The pace of goals slowed somewhat after that for a final score of 1-6.

Walking back through the woods in the 10pm twilight and pouring rain was its usual ‘atmospheric’ experience, but at least I didn’t bump into anyone else this time.
