Not the one o'clock guns

Today the 60th anniversary of the Coronation was marked by a 21 gun salute.

In Edinburgh we are used to the one o'clock gun from the half moon battery at the castle. So I thought this building in the port of Leith at the Shore merited a blip.

It is a most unusual design with a similar array of stone ornamental canons to the left of the clock. The canons are pointing south towards the city. Comment on relations in the past between Leithers and the good citizens of Edinburgh?
