Across the Strait

We were up early, threw our clothes on, loaded the car and set off for Wellington.  It was dark and there was a reasonable amount of traffic on the road.  We arrived at the Interislander Ferry Terminal just before 7:15 and parked in Lane 4, as instructed.  We didn’t move onto the ferry until just before 8:10am.  Once parked on Deck 5, we walked up the stairs to Deck 7 and found somewhere to sit.  The wind was squally and it was cold out on the deck, so we sat inside for most of the journey across Cook Strait and through the Marlborough Sounds until the ferry docked in Picton just after midday.  Once off the ferry we drove into Picton and found somewhere to have brunch, then drove to our motel and checked in. We relaxed in our motel room for the afternoon and listened to the wind howling outside. Eventually we decided to brave the cold, wind and rain and ventured out to an Indian restaurant called A Touch of Spice, where we had an enjoyable meal that we rounded off with a chocolate naan bread.  Yum!!  We do have some warm clothes with us, but the rest are in storage in Timaru and won’t be available until our goods are delivered to our new home on Tuesday - providing we can find the right boxes, of course.

The collage has various views from today, including the chocolate naan bread.
