Great Spotted Woodpecker ( Dendrocopos major )

One of the adult woodpeckers changed its habit today.  Instead of flying from the tree at the end of the garden directly to the bird table, before getting on to the nuts it decided to stop in the magnolia.  The first time it did this I wasn't ready.  I got it on the second visit.

They aren't large birds ranging in weight from approx 70g to 85g.  Fortunately, they seem to be doing well unlike many British birds, they are green listed i.e. of least concern.
