Montserrat

The last day of our trip, and we spent it walking in the hills at Montserrat. To get there entails an hour's train journey from Barcelona, and then a thrilling 5 minute cable car ride up to the monastery. From there, we took the St Joan funicular (almost vertical ascent!) to the start of our 7.5km circular walk to the summit of St Jeroni (1273m). From here, on a clear day (too hazy today) you can see Mallorca. We did have a lovely view of the snowy Pyrenees.

The flowers along the way were beautiful, and there was plenty of birdsong, although the birds were hard to spot.

Note to self for next visit : get a proper map and don't go in fitflops :-)
