The Gädäweg walk

This morning there was a fog that came down low, but by breakfast time it had lifted and it was once again a sunny day. After doing three downhill hikes in a few days my one knee is quite painful, so today we decided to do a gentle hike that did not have a steep descent.

We walked from the apartment to Mobiel and did the Gädäweg walk which is a trail just above the valley and village. Gädä is the name of the old barns that have been blackened by the sun, and this walk is a trail comprising a few of these old barns. It was a lovely walk and I saw quite a few butterflies - in extras is a Marbled White, taken with a 24-70mm lens so it is not as close up as a macro lens would achieve. The walk was not too steep and it was about 3 hours long. Xena loved chasing after the insects in the long grasses.

We met a woman who asked if we are hunters as here it seems Hungarian Vizslas are only used for hunting. It turns out that she was originally English and she had Vizslas in the past - she said she cannot understand why they don't use Vizslas for 'hunting' in the UK as they are more intelligent than the dogs that are used there! We have been asked if we are hunters a few times here as I believe local breeders of Hungarian Vizslas only sell puppies to hunters as working dogs.

Later in the afternoon we went to get some groceries and bought train tickets for tomorrow, as we have exciting plans to join some friends to go down the valley by train and then cycle along the Rhine river through the winelands.

We are going out to supper tonight so I must now go get ready.
