A surprise appearance . . .

at le Chalet de la Réserve des Aiguilles Rouges.

As it was a snowy day we decided to take a bus to Vallorcine and walk back to Chamonix. The highest point on our walk was the Col de Montet. We stopped there to look around the chalet and were pleasantly surprised to see two ibex. We'd been so disappointed by another day of low cloud that the sight of them really made our day. We made our way back down the valley in alternating sunshine and snow - a truly beautiful walk.
