Out and About

Bun Abhainn Eadarra

Pronounced Bun-avon-eader and it means Between the Bottom of the River. Anyway we're now on the Isle of Harris and this is the view from our holiday cottage.  We look out across the bay at the ruins of an old whaling station set up by Norwegians in the 1900s and finally closed in the 1950s, The chimney is  the "Boiling Chimney" and down on the shore are the remains of the huge concrete slope where they hauled out the whales.
You can see we have blue sky. It was very hot and sunny today , in fact we think that perhaps we had the best weather in the whole of the UK. The extra is a shot I took up in the hills above Tarbert during the orienteering event that we rushed to after getting off the ferry from Skye.
