Light pollution

Just annoying.
Spent about an hour trawling the internet to find dark sky sites within reasonable distance of my Mums for the summer.
Not much joy.
Then set the camera up in the back garden and left it running.
Do we really need so much light?
I'd like to be able to see the stars without being flooded by artificial illumination.
I think to get my wish I will have to move house.
Not likely.
