A Writer's Life

The island

Since today was the start of the summer term, I didn't have much choice but to work. To be honest, I would have preferred sleeping all day. At least. Lea kept me awake most of the night, doing her lion in cage routine. She has just now started to relax, 24 hours later.

I did manage, however, to make myself a bit of space to work, since there's much teaching and grading to do during the week. This, I call an island: the rest of the office is chaos, with boxes piled up, and shelves waiting to find their place in yet to be assembled bookcases. But I have this tiny spot with pens and papers and books, and I'm happy!
