As Good as New

Our train to Portland stopped in Seattle long enough for the addicted to get off for what the conductor referred to as a "fresh air break". I seized the opportunity to view the recently completed restoration of the station interior.

The station was built in 1906, and at some point was uglified modernized with low suspended ceilings and fluorescent lights. It was in a very sorry state of repair when the city purchased the building in 2008. The restoration took several years and millions of dollars to complete. I think it was worth it.
