...for Abstract Thursday, with thanks as ever to Ingeborg for hosting.

Last week I did all the online form filling to renew my passport which was straightforward. Today HM Passport Office sent me an email saying they need proof of my date of birth and could I send my original birth certificate. I have not had to do that before when renewing my British passport which I've had for at least 50 years!  I wonder whether maybe it’s because my place of birth is not in the UK. These certainly seem to be different times in the UK.
