If you can't beat them...

Harlequin Ladybird ( Harmonia axyridis )

This morning we were at the Lodge finishing off ready for the weekend guests.  The gentleman who had bought the easel expecting us to send a "buyer collects" item drove down from Forres, it seems he like us couldn't find a carrier who would accept it.  I took shots of the remaining wildflowers in the meadow as potential blips.

In the afternoon visiting Kanyl I spotted this Harlequin Ladybird (Asian Ladybird)   When they arrived in 2004 there was great concern as among its diet of aphids (like all Ladybirds) it includes the eggs and larvae of our native species.  I haven't heard how this has developed, so research is called for!
