En famille

Air travel just hasn't been the same since the pandemic - prices have escalated and service has declined. It has become all too common for flights to be cancelled or delayed, and when that flight is costing you much more than it ever used it, it is very annoying. Last night Tommy's flight from Gatwick was delayed by 3 hrs 5 minutes - meaning he got in to Zurich too late to get the train to us in Klosters, and had to find accommodation for the night in Zurich. And being Switzerland even a 'cheap' hostel is enormously expensive. Compensation is offered if flights arrive later than scheduled by 3 hrs, but of course the pilot made sure they arrived 2hrs 54 minutes after their scheduled time so no compensation allowed!

Luke and Adam got into Klosters at 11.30pm last night and Gavin was able to fetch them from the station to avoid them having to walk up the hill with their bags. Tommy spent the night in the hostel in Zurich, arriving there at 1.30am, and got a train up to Klosters this morning.

Despite the late night last night, we had a golf tee off booked for 8.30am - Gavin, Luke, Adam and I played, and we had a very enjoyable 9 holes and were finished in 1 hr 30 minutes so we came home for coffees, and the boys to eat breakfast as they did not have time to eat beforehand. It was sunny and warm this morning so it was very pleasant to be out early. The course is very short but ridiculously tricky to compensate for being so short, each time I play it I try to improve on my approach so while some things went better some did not!

After golf we took Xena for a walk and then went in to the village to fetch Tommy from the station. We had a walk along the river where I took this photo.

The girlfriends are sad not to be able to join us this year. Meriel is very busy in her new role in the Foreign Office due to the coup attempt in Niger a few days ago. Niger is one of the countries in 'her' region.

In the afternoon it started raining again, but Adam who went for a run up the valley said it was very refreshing while on his run! Tonight we are going out to supper to celebrate Tommy's graduation, it is the first time the family have been together since he graduated at the end of June.
