Sphaerophoria scripta

A Long Hoverfly (Sphaerophoria scripta) rests on leaves of Juniperus chinensis 'Blue Alps' in our back garden this morning, while nearby (see today's 'Extra') a Gatekeeper Butterfly (Pyronia tithonus) settled momentarily to feed on flowers of Large Thyme (Thymus pulegioides).
