Helleborine

Broadleaved helleborine, found in a miserable shrub bed next to a car park at Gartnavel. I expect the passers by formed their own idea of what I was doing squatting in a shrub bed.
Apparently these helleborines love Glaswegian car parks the best. Also, they have an opioid in their nectar, and the wasps get high on them. The secret of their success.
Mum has always been a keen amateur botanist, and it was she who spotted them. She’s been an inpatient at Gartnavel Royal for 3 months now. Here she is, in the extra, in the lovely walled garden in the hospital grounds.
