Barbie… it’s not just about pink

Shopping for my friend’s 5 year old daughter’s birthday. She requested a Barbie. I love what Barbie stands for and the huge variety of dolls from astronaut to Air Force pilot to scientist to news reporter.

There are Barbies in all colours and sizes these days and there’s even a new Downs Syndrome Barbie. I love the inclusion. I also quite like the fact the first ever Barbie in 1959 was swim Barbie. Swimming rules!

Barbie is not just about pink. She’s a feminist and taught me you can be whatever you want to be. No I haven’t seen the movie… yet. It’s on my to do list along with Oppenheimer.
