Wigtown Bay

Packed up early and headed back to Carrick for a dip on a very brisk high tide (extra…it was so much wilder and a lot rougher than it looks here) and then on to my friend’s at Gatehouse. His daughter and family were heading back to Manchester…she was about 14 when I last saw her … unbelievably 38 now. I find it hard to comprehend time passing.
Once we’d waved them off we went for a walk along the shore and picked a bit of samphire, just about going to seed now.

Days - Philip Larkin

What are days for?
Days are where we live.
They come, they wake us
Time and time over.
They are to be happy in:
Where can we live but days?

Ah, solving that question
Brings the priest and the doctor
In their long coats
Running over the fields.
