Resistance

We drove for over half an hour to a shoe shop, listening to a podcast about the damage inflicted on our mental and physical health, our cities, our quality of life, our environment and our society by the car. The irony was not lost on us

Are many people impacted by Ultra-Low Emission Zones and, if they are, are they implacably opposed to them? I'm sceptical. Do many people lie awake at night worrying about Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and, if they do, do a majority of people with an interest in them despise them? I doubt it. Have politicians lost their way if they think they can leverage votes from these issues on the back of curated outrage? I hope so, but I'm getting used to disappointment

My eye was caught by a in-store display with echoes of mid-20th century socialist resistance. I think this was entirely accidental. The retailer was supplied with the 'hands' in order to display gloves, then they broke of their relationship with the supplier, but the 'hands' stayed in the shop and were inventively re-purposed

There is a socialist anthem called Bread And Roses, with the message that the revolution is not just about securing bread for working people, it must also include roses. I don't have it by heart, but I don't think it mentions hand cream. Perhaps it should, and low traffic too
