Living my dream

By Mima

High winds

We had gale force winds from sometime in the night through until mid-afternoon. Happily there seems to be no damage Chez Mima except for one dead cabbage tree branch which fell onto the lawn just as we pulled into the drive after a morning in Oamaru.

Bean picked it up and chewed it before running around the lawn trailing it behind her. She’s not superdog; cabbage tree branches are as light as feathers. In a fit of weird tidiness she put it back where it had fallen.

The sun came out after a bitterly cold front laden with rain whooshed over us, so we dashed out for a chilly walk.

It was a lovely morning in town. As well as the usual library visit and shopping, we delivered some veg and stopped for coffee and natters with blippers Mrsmacdub and Mrmacdub. They moved into their new house last week and it was wonderful to see it looking like home already. They’ve done a huge amount of unpacking and sorting out.

I came home feeling as if it was my birthday, with a box containing chocolate, bananas, honey and a cast iron pot, and a huge pile of linen bedding: fantastic barters from the Macdubs.

What a lucky girl I am. Blippers who become friends are very special.
