Edmonds Band Rotunda.....

....a gift to the people of Christchurch from Thomas Edmonds, the founder of Edmonds Baking Powder and the man behind the Edmonds Cookery Book.

The rotunda was built in 1929, nine different bands performed at the opening. With the decline in popularity of band concerts in the late twentieth century, the rotunda gradually fell into disrepair. In 1985 it was transformed into the Thomas Edmonds Restaurant. The Canterbury 2010-11 earthquakes severely damaged the rotunda and it was deconstructed to be repaired. The restored rotunda is now used as a performance venue.

Tuesday....beautiful calm winters morning, nice to amble alongside the Avon River, our high 17C! Strong wind came through mid-afternoon and rain has since arrived, might be in for a wild night.

Happy Tuesday everyone :)
