Banff

Mrs CBL and I had a most enjoyable away day in Banff which is forty miles north of Cruden Bay.  With its beach and harbour amongst its top attractions the town has been popular with holidaymakers down through the years.  The local caravan park was busy today being close to capacity.

We enjoyed our picnic down at the links after our long walk around the town and along the seafront.  We had a bonnie view across the Moray Firth to the Black Isle in the background.

The church I have blipped is of the parish church on Doune Hill in the neighbouring town of Macduff across the River Deveron.  Down through the ages the two towns have been, at times, bitter rivals.  One dispute led to the councillors in Macduff ordering the removal of the hands on the clock face which faces Banff!  As you can see from the photo/thumbnail the hands have not been replaced to this day!
