Harpsichord - Cembalo

I'm posting this over a month late so not many people will see it so it's here mostly as my diary.
The day started with the dentist but it was just a clean up so no great discomfort.
The main event was the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble concert in Härnösand Cathedral in the evening. We loved it - world-class performances in our little cathedral. There was a reasonable audience but it was by no means crowded. A pity so relatively few people got to hear this. The concert was a mixture of instrumental pieces and exerts from Baroque operas, sung by soprano Helena Ek who often works with the ensemble. She sang without usingvibrato, which apparently is as it should be, and was very pleasant to listen to..
During the break I went for a look at the harpsichord played by the musical director. It was a beautiful instrument and I was very surprised to see it was a modern harpsichord built in Sweden, and in the very northern part of Sweden at that. Tornedalen is the river valley that separates Finland and Sweden above the Baltic. I checked via internet and the company is still building instruments.
One of the surprises of the concert was a piece, Sonata #2 in B-flat, by a composer we'd never heard of, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre (1665 - 1729).  The sonata was excellent, with a lot of variation and you can hear it here on YouTube or another version of the same sonata played by another ensemble...
There were not many women composers from that period so it was interesting to learn more about her on Wikipedia.
