Bus Pass Walkers do culture!

Yorkshire Day, and the BPW's caught 2 buses to Lister Park.  A short walk through the park and past the boating lake to Cartwright Hall.  The original "Refreshment Room" is a cafe, and so we had to call in for a coffee. Done had cake, and P and I had lovely vegan samosas.  A nice place.  Upstairs to have a look around, although a few of the galleries are currently closed.  I liked this metallic sculpture by Anish Kapoor. You can see some rather distorted bus pass walkers reflected in the steel! I did like the Asian exhibition hall - some beautiful clothes and fabrics, and I especially liked the warrior (extras). There was a wedding dress from a wedding in Lahore, and the owner just happened to be there looking at the exhibition with her mum!  They live in Canada now, but had just been on holiday in Turkey and had quite a tale to tell. Lovely to hear the background to the dress.  Later we had a walk through the beautifully laid out gardens and viewed the Mughal Gardens, fashioned on the grounds of the Taj Mahal.  A nice trip out, and 2 buses back to Bingley and lunch in the Craft House rounded off a good day.
