Oak bush - cricket

I spotted this Oak- bush cricket (Meconema thalassinum) on the ceiling and decided the I could take a better photograph if I could get it down, and I would then release it.

We have very high ceilings and the only way would be to gently brush it down.

Picture the scene; I retrieved a “feather duster” (actually a multicoloured synthetic material) on the end of a long telescopic handle. I opened it and charged forth in my wheelchair holding the long duster in front of me. For a moment I was a noble knight on a magnificent horse in a jousting tournament, her Ladyship’s colours flying behind me.

I then brought the insect down and he (yes it is a male) landed on a mirror.

So here it is in twin mode, after which I escorted it off the premises and tethered my steed.
