What struck my fancy

Gotcha

For a few years now I have wanted to capture a cargo vessel passing by the swing bridge at Sutton Bridge, County of Lincolnshire UK. The bridge is part of a busy main road, the A17. The logistical problems for the photographer include finding the time that a vessel is due to pass, and getting there early enough - before the bridge swings and is shut to road traffic because the queuing traffic can stretch for a mile or two so you can't drive to your chosen viewpoint.

The Sparborg has come from The Netherlands and is on its way along the River Nene bound for Wisbech.

The two extras show the bridge in position taking the usual road traffic, and the other shows the bridge in its swung position ready for river traffic to come through - with a paraglider watching from above.
