Gladstone Pottery Museum

We visited Gladstone Pottery Museum today to see an exhibition of photos of the last 47 remaining bottle ovens in Stoke-on-Trent.

I have a family connection to this museum as my granddad worked here as a packer. For most folks it's the site where "The Great Pottery Throw Down" is filmed.

It's an amazing museum to visit, as it's a complete working factory. So you can see how the whole process of pottery was made.

The photography exhibition moves to Middleport Pottery for the rest of the summer.

One interesting fact I found out was the bottle ovens have different brickwork at the top depending on who built them.
