Galah

The galah is an Australian cockatoo. Easily adapting to a range of modified and unmodified habitats, it is abundant and widespread throughout the continent. Galahs exist in flocks of around ten to 1,000 birds, sometimes including different species of cockatoo with which they may hybridise.

In captivity with an appropriate diet galahs can live long, with one recorded as reaching 72 years old. In the wild they live up to 20 years if they're lucky, as they frequently fall victim to traffic, predators, and farmers who regard them as pests. I however love them. They are intelligent, amusing and beautiful with their pink and grey plumage. I've included an extra so you can see the whole bird.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
