Pond life.  Several Water Boatmen and Pond Skaters appeared to walk on the pond at Inveresk but were actually swimming on the surface of the water with some of them having little bubbles of air. (Their shadows make them look as if there are two insects)   Among the plants in the pond were the delicate stems of Water Plantain with small pale lilac flowers and the taller Flowering Rush with its clusters of pink flowers.  The edge of the pond had Yellow Loosestrife and the ball-like flowers of Bur Reed as well as the sausage shaped brown flowers of Reedmace, commonly called Bulrush. Unfortunately there were no dragonflies or butterflies apart from one white, but fortunately the rain didn't start until I was within 5 minutes walk from home.
