We started the day with a very lazy ride on the cable car up to the Monastery which has great views of Porto. We then strolled across the bridge and into the old city. There are a lot of tourists in Porto but you don’t have to go far to lose them and find where the locals live and play. Porto is very charming, all twisty alleys and battered old doors. We bought some souvenir t-towels from this lady. My lack of Portuguese and her lack of English meant I didn’t get her name.

Mr C and I then headed back across the bridge and looked around a couple of the old port houses which now mostly host museums and shops. I think a cold beer or two crept in there somewhere along the way! We finished the day with prawns and oysters at the Golden Catch near our hotel. A good day.
