Paradise Shelducks …

….. ….. ….. flying over countryside below the Arrowtown river terrace.

I’d seen them in the paddock below as Missy & I had walked down from Arrowtown, and saw them get alerted as they saw my bird dog! I was chuffed to catch them on my iPhone!

These birds mate for life and are very protective of each other and their offspring. They’re endemic to New Zealand and aren’t found anywhere else. Their Māori name is pūtangitangi.
