They Might Be Giants

I looked for the coolest place we could drive to in 60 minutes. We drove west to one of our favorite hiking spots: El Malpais National Monument (8 degrees cooler than the city).  We didn't see a single person the entire time we hiked.
El Malpais means the badlands, but we always find the sandstone hoodoos delightful. None of the fossils we found have been marked. It's wide open land for your endless discovery.
