Walking the walls

The gigantic fortress at Coucy-le-Chateau-Auffrique was built during the 13th century and was the third most visited site in France (after Mt St Michael and the palace of Versailles) until it was destroyed in 1917 by the occupying forces who wanted it to remain a ruin. Five years later rebuilding began. It is an amazing site and we had the weather to go with it.
