Border Crossing

So an early start - heading South West out of the city for Bishkek and this was the extent of the shopping at the Kazakh/Kyrgyz border!

The scenery down was pretty cool - the flora and fauna offered lots of photo potential and the land was surprisingly fertile. I was right about the miles and miles of nothingness but had imagined the landscape to be more barren than it was. It was about 240 or so kms and the sun was damn hot, so we were pleased to get there - met on the road by Martin, so that I could follow him back to his place through the city. Slight moment at the border, when I couldn't find the car's passport. Since when do vehicles have passports?!? It was all ok - it was a laminated bit of card, in one of the compartments- it just took a bit of finding, that's all!

Some cold beers welcomed us, followed by a shashlyk and plov lunch across the road from the park. We had a fairly relaxed afternoon, before heading into town for some shopping and drinking! Found a nice bar with outdoor seating that saw us while away the night. A lovely night!
