I am camera

The house I grew up in

Photographed by one of my children in the nineties.  It still has a huge pull for me because I was uprooted from it way before I was ready to leave. Some time earlier I was wandering round a gallery in Kilmarnock when I did a double take. On display was a painting of this house entitled The Turret. (1901 or 1903)  But I didn’t note who the painting  was by. Today I have been trying to trace this painting. The name Alexander Nisbet Patterson, an architect who also painted, has cropped up. It has the right ring to it, although it may be a red herring. I’ve also found an art dealer who specialises in Scottish paintings of that era, so I am going to ask her.
