Lost in Thought

Bobbin! (EB)

Well, the day started off dreich before moving on to drizzle, through to damp and finally to a bit miserable.

However - not without some successes:
I managed to find a paying in slip and take a cheque (remember those?) to the post office.
We went to our Yoga class where Jo's relaxation, clear your mind, be in the moment, first few minutes were so relaxing I thought I had fallen asleep - and was about to open my eyes to discover the rest of the students looking at me.
One of the fabric arts people Gill admires (Wendy Dolan) had an exhibition at Upton House Of Land and Sea. She  makes some quite wonderful art works from multiple layers of fabric, stitched through and with the design outlined in stitching before she paints in the colours to produce the final piece.  Gallery photos here.  The wet weather discouraged visitors which meant Gill had plenty of time to discuss techniques and sewing machines with her.
We had just collected our tea/coffee/cake and sat down when there was a power failure which put the cafe into an early closure.  At least we had enough window light to see.

Nerdy bit:  Ms Dolan uses a Bernina 910, which was the first sewing machine Gill bought back in 1983.  After trading hers in and going through several other machines Gill now has a very similar, entirely mechanical, Bernina which she has used in making many of the fabric art pieces I have blipped. These machines are generally all metal construction, pretty much bomb proof and rather like a classic rangefinder camera.

The bobbin is from that machine.
