James Watt, Artist

By JamesWatt

Not an extra

James Watt is enjoying the opening of the first exhibition in the art space at the Beacon tonight, anticipating next week's work with the pupils and the run up to his own retrospective at the venue.

For five months Art in Hospital has been providing an arts programme for patients undergoing renal
Dialysis at Inverclyde Royal and tonight the work of the patients is on show at the opening of their exhibition.

It's a strong message about the power of creativity, amongst the sketchbooks, paintings, photographs, digital animations...

And a strong message about learning which we hope to share with pupils. In the words of one patient, "This type of work is not an extra. It's the difference between coping and not coping."

Delighted to say the work will still be on show when the pupils are here. The exhibition is running until
the 18th.

Inspired.
