The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939)

I thought Charles Laughton was absolutely superb in the title role, showing strength and weakness as good as anyone can. Like most of Victor Hugo's books, it is rarely a laugh a minute, but it has its moments of real pathos , before their fate is played out....spoiler alert...it doesn't end well !

Interesting is the difference between the film and the book, in the ending.
