A Meandering Life...

Brimham Rocks

Them who know these things say these rocks started to form 335 million years ago when the UK was located over the equator. It was much warmer in those days and by the time Nidderdale and the surrounding area was carved by a passing glacier (30,000-18,000 years ago) these millstone grit rocks were able to resist its power. I guess a few hundred tourist climbing over them each day will do little to change things.

Brigham Rocks is owned/managed by the National Trust and can be found between Ripon and Pateley Bridge in the Nidderdale AONB. It was my first visit.
