A day of high drama in Linton...

...and at last Michael and Chris could get back out and wrestle with their oats, that in patches were badly damaged by the heavy rain. Here the combine is cutting the better part of the crop.

This morning there was a lorry and car fire in the high street, and for a time it was a ferocious fire that threatened the houses just a few feet away. A explosion had been reported but that was in fact the lorry tyres bursting in the fire.

While this was going on there was a problem with the water main just 300 meters away that for a time produced a huge geyser shooting up about 10 feet into the air.

For a time things were far from quiet in our quiet Cambridgeshire village.
